Well, I’m back in Pittsburgh, and it’s so cold! After a brief pause and a few weeks of personal chaos—returning from time away and navigating home renovations—I’ve been reflecting on how life’s disruptions often mirror the challenges we face at work. One of the most powerful strategies for staying grounded during such upheaval is to focus on controlling the controllables. When your environment feels unpredictable, identify one or two key areas where you can take deliberate, decisive action. Whether organizing your workspace amidst renovation dust or setting clear priorities in a jam-packed schedule, this habit of focused control can reduce stress and boost productivity.
This week, take a moment to identify what you can influence and put your energy there. It’s a deceptively simple practice with big returns, both personally and professionally.
